4 things to do this weekend


OSF Green Show: 6:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, on the bricks at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 15 S. Pioneer St. The band Jane Doe will give a free performance. The rock and blues octet is led by OSF actor Vivia Font, and includes OSF musicians from 2013 OSF productions and local bands and a rotating cast of guest artists. Festival Noons: Noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Oregon Shakespeare Festival Carpenter Hall, 15 S. Pioneer St. Dramaturg Gina Pisasale, along with Sarah Rasmussen, director of "The Two Gentlemen of Verona,"  and Lisa Wolpe, artistic director of Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company, will present "Women Playing Men: A Look at Gender and Shakespeare's Characters." Astronomy Event: 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Mountain Ave. Dave Bloomsness and Robert Black will talk about NASA's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), a modified Boeing 747 with a 2.4-meter telescope, and discuss their experience as Airborne Astronomy Ambassadors. Following the talk will be the opportunity to peek through telescopes with assistance from Southern Oregon Skywatchers. Pre-registration is not required. Call 541-488-6606.


Fundraiser Dinner: Seating at 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Cucina Biazzi, 568 E. Main St. The restaurant will donate proceeds to Friends of the Animal Shelter. Beverage, dessert and tip are excluded from the restaurant's donation. RSVP at 541-488-3769.
