AHS girls score win over Crater

CENTRAL POINT — Ashland's Sarah Honeywell scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Grizzlies rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat Crater 3-2 in nonconference play on Tuesday.

Crater's Makayla Hickman netted goals in the 11th and 30th minutes, the first unassisted and the second off a counterattack and assist from Emily Walker.

Ashland found a response in the second half, receiving two goals from freshman Faci Graham. She connected on a Madeline Wilson assist first and later was fouled and cashed in on a free kick in the 71st minute against the Comets (1-7-1).

In the deciding play, Graham took a hard shot early in the second half of the OT session that bounced off Crater's goalkeeper. Honeywell gathered the rebound and scored, giving the Grizzlies (5-5-1) the win.
