AHS softball team drilled by Crater

CENTRAL POINT — Malorie Mitchell had a two-run home run in the first inning and a two-run single in the second to propel Crater to a 14-2 nonconference win over Ashland on Thursday.

Kenzie Rohde belted a solo homer to lead off the second inning, and lefty slap-hitter Rachel Ray was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs. Dennae Grant, Mitchell and Kassi Murphy each had two hits for the Comets (9-6).

Renee Murphy tossed a no-hitter through three innings before giving way to Amber Bleth inside the circle.

Nicole Lehman paced Ashland (7-9) by going 2-for-3. Lehman doubled to lead off the fourth and scored on an RBI single by Kylie Howson.
