Ashland boys sixth in tourney

ROSEBURG — Ben Sager carded a 12-over-par 83 to pace the Ashland boys golf team, which landed in a tie for sixth in the eight-team all-Southwest Conference tournament at Roseburg Country Club Monday.

Sager shot a 38 on the front nine holes and a 45 on the back. Matt Hedges was the Grizzlies' No. 2 with an 85. As a team, Ashland shot a 357, as did South Eugene.

Helped by Taylor Klemp's 77, North Medford (325) seized second place behind tournament champ Roseburg (314). Both Drew Groshong and Arie Yraguen penciled in 77s for the Indians.

Sheldon's Ben Wanichek was medalist with a 75.

At Medford, Ashland had an incomplete team score, falling a player short of a full squad at Rogue Valley Country Club.

Jordan Schweizer shot a 100 to lead the Grizzlies.

Sheldon's Jenny Krause was medalist with a 4-over-par 76. The Irish won the event with a team score of 312.
