College Wrestling

The fourth-ranked Southern Oregon University wrestling team will wrap up a six-dual homestand with two duals Saturday night and one dual Monday night.

The Raiders will face NCAA Division II foe San Francisco State Saturday at 5 p.m. and NAIA opponent Oklahoma City University at 7 p.m.

Monday night, the Raiders will face NCAA Division I Portland State at 7 p.m.

SOU is now 2-1 in duals on the season after dropping a 29-8 decision to Oregon State last Saturday.

One of the bright spots for the Raiders so far has been the performance of 125-pounder Mitch Lofstedt. The freshman scored an impressive 13-5 major decision victory over Oregon State's Jake Gonzalez and is 2-1 in duals.

Senior 141-pounder Barry Johnson is 3-0 in duals with a fall and a major decision. Johnson is ranked second in the latest NAIA rankings.

San Francisco State is 0-2 on the season, losing to NCAA Division I teams Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Stanford. The Gators are receiving votes in the latest NCAA Division II Top 20 poll and are led by senior Curtis Schurkamp.

Schurkamp, the top-ranked 125-pounder in Division II, went 3-2 at last weekend's Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas.
