Ashland police report

Dec. 15-16, 2007

Saturday, 1:49 p.m. &

A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. He gave false name and birthday in an attempt to conceal a warrant for his arrest and his suspended driving privileges. The warrant was confirmed and he was put under arrest. His vehicle was impounded. He was transported and lodged at Jackson County Jail for the warrant and false information to police times two.

Saturday, 3:02 p.m. &

Police responded to a possible hit and run at the corner of Clay Street and Ashland Street. Officers located the driver of the vehicle about — blocks from the scene. The driver showed signs of impairment. She refused all tests. She was taken to ACH and they performed a blood draw in order to medically clear her for jail.

Saturday, 11:19 p.m. &

Officers responded to the 400 block of Walker Avenue for a fight in progress. During the investigation, officer's determined several minors were drinking alcohol at an apartment. Two men were cited for providing a place for minors to drink alcohol. Eleven juveniles were cited for minor in possession of alcohol.

Sunday, 12:50 a.m. &

A man was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after he was found to be in possession of a marijuana bong.

Sunday, 12:51 a.m. &

A man was arrested and lodged at Jackson County Jail after admitting to snorting cocaine off of a tabletop inside the Kat Wok Bar.

Sunday, 2:12 a.m. &

While on foot patrol in the first block of East Main Street. Officers saw individuals running on the sidewalk toward the plaza area. Police contacted the group and determined a fight had taken place at the Vinyl Club just prior. A few individuals stated other people involved in the altercation assaulted them. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Sunday, 2:28 p.m. &

Police contacted a man who had a felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He was also charged with failing to notify a change of address. He was lodged at Jackson County Jail.

Sunday, 3:27 p.m. &

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. He had no driving privileges and the insurance on the vehicle had been terminated in 2006. The driver was cited for the violations and the vehicle was impounded.

Sunday, 4:20 p.m. &

While on patrol officers noticed several patrons of the Skate Park not wearing a helmet. Police gave a reminder via the PA system on the patrol car of the helmet requirement. When police returned there was only one person still not wearing their helmet. He was issued a citation for the municipal code violation.

Sunday, 4:55 p.m. &

A custodian for the city, reported vandalism to an exterior wall of The Grove. "APD Bacon Brigade" was written in permanent marker on the east corner of the south wall.

Sunday, 6:21 p.m. &

Police responded to a moving vehicle collision. When officers arrived they noticed a gray Ford Escort against the fence at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The driver of the vehicle was not on scene when officers arrived. While obtaining a statement from a witness, the witness identified the driver, who had just returned to the scene as the driver of the vehicle Police spoke with the driver who had bloodshot watery eyes, heavily slurred speech and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The driver informed officers that he had been driving when he was struck by another vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUII and transported to Jackson County Jail.

Sunday, 7:50 p.m. &

Officers were dispatched to SOU Student Family Housing regarding a male who knocked on the window residence and exposed himself. The man had a black scarf over his face. Police did a thorough check of the area, but were unable to locate the man.
