Ashland soccer teams earn SSC-opening victories

Amanda Greenstein scored two goals while Molly MacGraw added a goal and aided two others to lead the Grizzlies to a 4-0 Southern Sky Conference-opening victory over Mazama, Tuesday at North Mountain Park.

Greenstein took advantage of a defender's mistake to net the first goal in the 17th minute. Ashland (2-2-3, 1-0 SSC) took the 1-0 lead into the break before Kai Yearsly turned MacGraw's corner kick into a score in the 47th minute to give Ashland a 2-0 lead.

Greenstein scored her second goal off an assist from MacGraw in the 56th minute and MacGraw completed the scoring with a goal in the 60th minute.

Boys soccer

At Klamath Falls, Simon Lindsay scored a pair of goals and Alex Murray had three assists and a goal to lead Ashland to a 9-0 Southern Sky Conference victory over Mazama.

Lindsay had back-to-back goals in the 29th and 34th minutes, both coming on feeds from Murray to give the Grizzlies (4-2-1 overall) a 5-0 halftime advantage.

The Grizzlies outshot the Vikings 20-2 as Ashland goalkeepers Weston Overland and Noah Sohl combined for the shutout.

Women's soccer

Southern Oregon improved to 6-4-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over William Jessup at University Field.

SOU picked up goals from Nicole Vilarino and Justina MacDowell in the win.

The Raiders next face Evergreen State on Friday and Northwest University on Saturday.
