BLM plans to burn debris

Don't panic when you see smoke rising near Howard Prairie reservoir today.

It will likely be 108 acres of woody debris piles the U.S. Bureau of Land Management is burning on its Medford District. The debris is from previous thinning activities.

Smoke will be intermittent but possibly visible from areas around the lake and near the intersection of the Dead Indian Memorial Highway and the Keno Access Road, said district spokesman Jim Whittington.
