Burglar hits Phoenix Purple Parrot

A burglar broke out a window of a Purple Parrot lottery outlet in Phoenix with a sledgehammer early this morning to get inside and steal two packs of cigarettes, said.

The crime at 721 N Main St., unit D, was reported by employees at 7 a.m., police said.

"(They'd) showed up to go to work and noticed the window was broken," Phoenix police officer Adam Lewis said.

Surveillance video showed the burglar breaking the window, going inside, rifling through the till, and taking two packs of cigarettes — valued at about $9 total — before leaving. The burglar did not taken any money from the till or steal any other items, police said.

The break-in resulted in $250 damage to the window, police estimated.

Police said the suspect is a man in his late 20s to early 30s, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. They are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect. If anyone has information on the incident, call the Phoenix Police Department at 541-535-1113.
