City Council considers additions of tables, chairs and planters at Plaza

The Ashland City Council will hold a study session followed immediately by a regular meeting today to consider adding moveable tables and chairs, and fixed flower planters to the downtown Plaza.

The meetings, which are open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Ashland Civic Center Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main St.

The council normally would hold a study session today and a regular meeting on Tuesday, but the two meetings are being combined because of a host of community activities planned for the week to celebrate the Fourth of July.

A major Plaza reconstruction wrapped up in April. Since then, councilors and many members of the public have expressed interest in adding amenities like tables, chairs and flower pots to the space.

The council will also discuss painting an information booth on the Plaza.
