City of Ashland's official website receives a makeover

The city of Ashland website has been given a new look to be cleaner and easier to navigate. The new website, designed by Project A, Inc., is scheduled to premier this afternoon.

"It was time to update it and give it a facelift," said Ann Seltzer, management analyst for the city of Ashland.

Two of the new features of the website will include a "Hot Topics" page and an "Ashland 24/7" page. "Hot Topics" will focus on information about city projects and issues.

The "Ashland 24/7" is being organized to include the constant services that are available to residents online such as utility payments, registration for recreational programs and permit applications, among others.

"Those tools like being able to pay your bill online have always existed," said Seltzer. "We wanted to get all of those tools that people use and are available 24-7 in one place."

The content on these pages already exists on the website, according to Seltzer, but now it will be more user friendly to those who visit. Though she did not readily know the typical visitor count for the site, Seltzer noted that it has more than 4,000 subscribers.

The new pages are being added to already existing features on the website such as public access to agendas, minutes, news, calendars, employment opportunities and city services.
