Elaine H. Fielder, 88, of Talent, passed gracefully on to her next journey on Nov. 19, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Elaine was born March 8,1924, in Pasadena, Calif. to George and Helen Hunt. She grew up in Southern California, and went to high school in Marin County. Elaine graduated UCLA and USC, where she earned her master's in social work. She was active in the Civil Rights Movement and cared deeply about equality and dignity for all people. Elaine served many people in her role as a psychotherapist, both in private counseling and as a group leader in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Southern Oregon. She facilitated women's groups, prosperity consciousness, and Painting From Within classes, to name a few. As a Universal Life minister, Elaine joyously officiated at the weddings of many friends, including her son and daughter. She was an avid reader, always furthering her understanding of psychology and the expansion of human consciousness. She encouraged people to be true to themselves and do what makes them happy. Elaine was still counseling clients up until a week before her departure.
A beloved mother and grandmother, Elaine was very devoted to her family. She was a font of love and positivity. She was known for her generosity of spirit; graciousness; her accepting, supportive way with others; her optimism and encouragement; joy, playfulness, and sparkle; and independence. She was passionate in her love of jazz and jazz musicians. A true people person, Elaine loved visiting and hugging all her friends in town. She was a light and inspiration to many.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Ann Fielder, of Talent; son, Chris Fielder and daughter-in-law, Marianne Cane, of Leonia, N.J.; grandchildren, Mariah Fielder, Alex Webb, and Dan and Brian Fielder; and brothers, George, Gordon, and Peter Hunt.
There will be a celebration of life jazz party at the Ashland Community Center in March, date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to one of the many charities Elaine gave to: The Jazz Foundation of America, medical care for uninsured musicians, Heifer International, or Amnesty International.
We are forever grateful for the time we had with you!
