Emergency preparedness classes set

Ashland Fire & Rescue presents two "Ashland Is Ready" classes, one from 8 a.m. to noon and the second from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland.

The courses help people get prepared for an emergency and participants will build and take home an emergency kit. Registration is $5.

Seating is limited at each session. Register at Ashland Fire & Rescue Station 1, 455 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, or at the door if seating is not filled.

Each workshop will include presentations about Ashland's natural hazard assessment and seismic risks, fires and floods, weather emergencies, Citizen Alert, CERT and Medical Reserve Corp.

Attendees will build and take home a readiness kit that includes emergency supplies such as water, first aid kit, food bars, flashlight, towelettes, survival blanket and more. The kit is valued at more than $30. More information is available at www.ashland.or.us/air.

This event is sponsored by Asante, Shop 'N' Kart, and Ashland CERT. Questions about the workshop can be directed to Ashland Fire & Rescue at 541-482-2770.
