Helicopter logging starts near White Rabbit

Forest thinning work using helicopters will move to the White Rabbit trail area just above Ashland this week.

The work is part of the Ashland Forest Resiliency Project. The helicopter will work near town for five to seven days, project officials reported.

"The proximity of this work to town is important for the community's fire safety, but this also means it will be more noticeable than recent days," a statement in a news release said.

All trails and roads from Four Corners down to the top of the Bandersnatch Trail remain closed for public safety both weekdays and weekends until crews complete cleanup, officials said. The work is expected to be completed by May 1.
