Highway 230 reopens

Highway 230 has reopened after being closed for three days while crews cleared fallen trees, the Oregon Department of Transportation reports.

Roughly 23 miles of the highway, starting at its junction with Highway 62, have been closed since Sunday after heavy, wet snow toppled more than 25 large trees onto the roadway.

A contractor removing snow-loaded trees and ODOT crews worked to clear the highway, but were slowed by continued bad weather and the Christmas holiday, the Oregonian reported.

The highway reopened about 3 p.m. The road is covered by packed snow and chains are required on large vehicles and those towing loads.
