Hoops clinic slated for Friday

Steve Humann is looking for a few good basketball players.

Ashland's longtime girls basketball traveling team coach will hold a clinic, 5-7 p.m. Friday at Ashland Middle School. The one-time only session is for girls in grades four through eight, and costs $5 per child.

Humann, who's also coached at Ashland High and Southern Oregon University, is looking to bolster a traveling team roster that's seen a decline in participation in recent years. He's hoping the clinic will inspire more girls to go out for the teams.

"We're always looking for more players," he said.

The clinic will include scrimmages, shooting drills and instruction in basketball fundamentals.
