Hyatt tent area renovating

The Hyatt Lake Recreation Complex walk-in tenting area will be closed for renovations until Aug. 18. Improvements to the area include new electrical service and renovation of the existing restroom building. This will not affect the remainder of the recreation complex including fee campsites at Hyatt Lake and Wildcat campgrounds, a group camping area, a group day-use shelter, a fire circle, restroom facilities, showers, a trailer dump station, a ball field, boat ramps and dock facilities, a fish cleaning station, a sand volleyball court, a basketball goal, horseshoe pits, a children's playground, and an equestrian campsite.

The improvements will include new partitions, heaters, fixtures and addition of showers for campers. Additional information on recreation sites and opportunities managed by the Medford District Bureau of Land Management can be found at: /Medford.

BLM officials also announced free fishing at Hyatt Lake.

On June 9, the BLM will host an event in celebration of Free Fishing Weekend. This event will include free camping at Hyatt Lake Recreation Complex from Friday until Saturday that weekend.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, a free, hot breakfast will be provided at no cost to participants. From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, BLM staff and volunteers will be on hand to lend out fishing tackle, life jackets and provide bait at the Hyatt Lake boat ramp. BLM staff and volunteers will also take people out in boats to fish provide other activities in celebration of free fishing weekend.

Collaborative Partners supporting this event include the United Hunters and Sportsmen's association and the Hyatt Lake resort. The United Hunters and Sportsmen are providing free breakfast. BLM is providing fishing gear, bait and other materials to support this event. The Hyatt Lake resort has generously donated the use of several boats for this event.
