Kiwanis Student of the Month: Nicole Rinaldi

The Kiwanis Club of Ashland has recognized Nicole Rinaldi as its December 2008 Student of the Month. Nicole is the daughter of Bonnie and John Rinaldi.

Rinaldi has devoted many hours to school activities. She has served as the community service coordinator in the leadership class (three years), senior class vice president, Natural Helpers Club member (two years), Fresh Start counselor, Global Citizen's Corps member, writer for AHS online newspaper and co-coordinator of the Back-to-School Supply fundraiser and event for disadvantaged children.

In addition to school activities, Rinaldi has also been active in the community. She has volunteered at a community meal service for two years.

She also volunteers at Ashland Community Hospital. And she was active on the leadership team for the youth group at the First Baptist Church in Ashland.

While participating in these school and community activities, Rinaldi maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.0.

Rinaldi has also been an active athlete during her school years. She participates on the volleyball, ultimate frisbee and tennis teams.

Rinaldi also has volunteered for three years on Mexico mission trips, and she has participated in a Spanish immersion program and surf camp.

She has worked at Rinaldi & Associates two hours per week for five years.

Following graduation, Nicole is planning a college career with possible emphasis on medical programs.

The Student of the Month receives an award certificate and a $50 savings bond. During May 2009, two of the nine monthly winners for the current school year will be further honored with a $1,000 college scholarship. This is called the "Tommy Laird Kiwanis Scholarship."

The Ashland Kiwanis Club is focused on supporting learning and leadership opportunities for the youth of our community through local fundraising and volunteerism.
