Locals gather to take a stand on Ferguson shooting

Members of the Ashland community, including Oregon Shakespeare Festival actors, staff and families, gathered in Lithia Park on Thursday to show their solidarity with the community of Ferguson, Mo., in the wake of the fatal police shooting of teenager Michael Brown on Aug. 9. "Hands up, don't shoot" demonstrations, so-called because some witnesses say Brown had his hands up in a gesture of surrender when shot, have been held in Ferguson and other places across the country since the shooting.
