Man dies in Highway 238 traffic crash

A 42-year-old man died Monday night after he drove his truck off Highway 238 outside Jacksonville and crashed into a utility pole, ejecting him from the vehicle.

Oregon State Police reported the crash happened at 11:17 p.m. near milepost 30, about three miles west of Jacksonville. The driver, whose name will be released once next of kin is notified, was driving west on the highway when his GMC pickup traveled off the road's north side for an unknown reason, struck the pole, and came to rest on its wheels.
