Mt. Ashland tests new snowfall to see if it can open

Eight inches of new snow fell on Mount Ashland last night and ski area leaders plan to poke around this morning to see if there is enough good snow to open.

Mt. Ashland Ski Area General Manager Kim Clark is headed up the mountain this morning to check out the conditions. He wants to see if there is enough good snow for grooming at least a few of the ski area's runs.

The snow base is listed this morning at 16-20 inches. Clark says if the mountain can get another 8 inches or so in tomorrow's storm, "I think it would definitely get us a couple lifts open."
