New rabbi comes to Temple Emek Shalom

Temple Emek Shalom has announced that Rabbi Joshua Boettiger will take over as head of the Ashland congregation on Aug. 1.

Boettiger replaces Rabbi Marc Sirinsky, who recently retired after 18 years leading the synagogue.

For the past six years, Boettiger has served Congregation Beth El in Bennington, Vt., and for the past four years was chairman of the Bennington Interfaith Council. He worked to establish the Free Medical Clinic and Food Distribution Center in the Bennington area and also has been a board member of Rabbis for Human Rights North America.

Boettiger, who is the great-grandson of former U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, comes to the Rogue Valley with his wife Vanessa, also a rabbi, and a young daughter Paloma.
