Pilots swept by Colts

South Medford had six hits and took advantage of three walks while sending 14 batters to the plate in a 10-run sixth inning to pull away in Game 2 and clinch an Area 4 sweep at North Mountain Park.

The Colts won the first game 13-1 in five innings and the second game 18-6.

Tyler Pearson had three hits and Austin White two hits and two RBIs to lead South in the second game. For Ashland, Nick Sanderson was 2-for-4 with a three-run double and Jose Perez 2-for-4 with a two-run single.

In the opener, the Colts jumped out to a 9-0 lead through two innings and finished the game in five innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Brandon Lupton was 3-for-4, while White, Ryan Carle and Jake Perry had two hits apiece for South.

For Ashland (1-16), Christopher Buckley provided the Pilots' only run of the game on a sacrifice fly that plated Kyle Milgrim.
