Police and fire reports March 25

Tuesday 1:07 p.m. — Police discovered a registered sex offender out of compliance in the Ashland area. The case is under investigation.

Tuesday 1:56 p.m. — Police received a referral from the Department of Human Services for the 100 block of Nursery Street. The referral did not allege any criminal activity.

Tuesday 2:12 p.m. — A known person turned in two handguns for disposal. The guns were placed in the evidence vault for safekeeping.

Tuesday 2:36 p.m. — Police cited and released a 24-year-old woman for theft after she was caught stealing $1.80 worth of merchandise from Market of Choice.

Tuesday 3:35 p.m. — Ashland Sanitary received a counterfeit $1 bill at some time between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the transfer station in the 100 block of Oak Street.

Tuesday 7:49 p.m. — A 29-year-old man was cited and released for theft after he was caught stealing a deli item in the 1400 block of Siskiyou Boulevard.

Tuesday 8:05 p.m. — A man reported that his neighbor, a 20-year-old man, had assaulted him the day before in the 100 block of Lincoln Street. Upon investigation, police found probable cause to believe the 20-year-old man had committed the crimes of assault, harassment, and criminal mischief when he instigated a fight with the complainant causing minor injury and damaging the complainant's eyeglasses. The man was cited to appear at Jackson County Circuit Court on the charges.

Tuesday 11:01 a.m. — AFR responded to an emergency medical services call in the 1000 block of Terra Avenue.

Tuesday 11:20 a.m. — AFR responded to a report of smoke odor in the first block of Knoll Crest Drive.

Tuesday11:43 a.m. — AFR responded to an emergency medical services call in the 6000 block of Wagner Creek Road.

Tuesday 7:59 p.m. — AFR responded to an emergency medical services call in the 2200 block of East Main Street.
