Quilters join to spuce up senior center

The members of the Hands All Around Quilters have donated six quilts to the Ashland Senior Center.

The quilts cover the sound dampening panels on the dining room walls and are a continuation of the Spruce Up community effort to reduce some of the physical challenges of the space, ultimately making the room more comfortable for older adults.

Each quilt was designed and made by hand to coordinate with the newly painted walls.

The Hands All Around Quilters is a group of more than 40 members who meet every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wesley Hall Annex of the First United Methodist Church of Ashland.

They range in expertise from beginner to advanced and focus on sharing ideas and learning from one another. The group is open to anyone who has an interest in quilting.

People are invited to drop by the Ashland Senior Center to admire the talent and artistry of these quilts.

The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is located at 1699 Homes Ave. For more information call 488-5342.
