Smoke-related closures, cancellations for Aug. 1

Oregon Shakespeare Festival has canceled tonight's performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

To make up for canceled shows, the festival has added two performances of "King Lear" in the Thomas Theatre at 8 pm. Sunday, Aug. 4., and Tuesday, Aug. 6. Patrons can purchase tickets or exchange current tickets for either of these shows by calling the Box Office at 800-219-8161 or 541-482-4331.

Daily decisions about outdoor performances will be posted at and announced on the bricks. Ticketholders who provided email addresses at the time of purchase will get email announcements, officials said.

The Green Show performances this week have been moved to Carpenter Hall. If the air quality improves by 4: p.m., then the shows will be relocated back to the Green Show stage.

The Ashland City Band has canceled its performance today in Lithia Park's Butler Band Shell.

The City of Ashland has closed Daniel Meyer Pool for today. Pool workers will make decisions on whether to close the pool on a day-to-day basis, but tentatively plan to reopen Friday.

Free swim passes will be issued to participants in canceled swimming lessons, with passes distributed at the next regularly scheduled swim class. Staff is exploring additional reimbursement options, officials said.

Ashland's East Main Band has canceled a 6 p.m. Friday show at Del Rio Winery in Gold Hill. The show was part of the winery's summer concert series and may be rescheduled later, organizers said.

Troon Vineyard's anniversary barbecue set for Saturday afternoon at the vineyard, 1475 Kubli Road, Grants Pass, has been called off. The indoor tasting room will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with anniversary specials available.

The Talent's Evening Market, originally scheduled for Friday, has been canceled.

The Free Nia 30th Birthday Celebration in Ashland has been canceled for Friday.

The Ashland Food Co-op posted on Facebook that its First Friday wine tasting on Aug. 1 is canceled.

Redemption Run 5K and 10K runs set for Edenvale Winery on Saturday now will be a walk in the Rogue Valley Mall. Registration is at 6:15 a.m.; walking starts at 7. Participants can walk as long as they want. There will be day-of-race sign-ups. Cost is $25, and proceeds go to Medford's Redemption Ridge, a faith-based nonprofit organization that works with girls escaping the sex trade. A 6 p.m. dinner still will be held at Edenvale Winery.
