Speer hauls in national kudos

Southern Oregon junior post Jacki Speer has been named third team NAIA All-American.

Speer, a first-team All-Cascade Conference selection, averaged 16.6 points and 11.3 rebounds during the 2008-09 season. The Washington product had 22 double-doubles on the season and became just the third Raider to average a double-double.

Speer is the 12th All-American in the history of SOU women's basketball.

With one season remaining, Speer ranks third on SOU's all-time rebounding list and sixth on the career scoring list. Her 360 rebounds this year ranks second in school history.

The College of Idaho's Christon Vander Esch, the conference's Player of the Year, was named a second team All-American and Morningside's Dani Gass was named the NAIA Player of the Year.

Speer helped lead the Raiders to a 25-7 overall record and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
