Unemployment rate at 5.5 percent in October, November

After slow growth in recent months, Oregon's seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll employment grew in October and November, according to data from the Oregon Employment Department.

The number of jobs grew 3,200 in October, adjusting previous figures, and 7,500 in November. The gains were largely because of new jobs in two industries: trade, transportation, utilities and hospitality.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5 percent in both October and November, close to levels during the past year or more.
