Young performers

Ashland Middle School theatre students will be performing two one-act plays: "This Is a Test" and "Small Actors," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, and Friday, Nov. 14, in the Ashland Middle School Commons, 100 Walker Ave., Ashland.

Directing is Jeff Tabler, co-founder and artistic director of the Oregon Conservatory of Performing Arts, a nonprofit theatre organization for Rogue Valley youth ages 6 to 18.

Tabler describes "This Is a Test" as a fast-paced comedy concerning a boy who has only 60 minutes to complete a test. But he didn't get the review sheets, the teacher doesn't seem to like him, voices are in his head, and his classmates are blatantly cheating.

"Small Actors," a comedy/drama, is the story of Emily, who wants to play Juliet in the school's production of "Romeo and Juliet," but she gets only one line. When she tells her parents she has the lead, things spin out of control. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $3.
