A free event is set for Monday in Ashland to thank commuters using wheels and feet to get to work.

Free snacks, safety lights for bikers

As part of the Oregon Drive Less Challenge, Rogue Valley Transportation District and Ashland Parks and Recreation is kicking off the weeks-long event with a breakfast and give-a-away from 7:30-9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Railroad Park along the Central Bike Path on A Street.

The event is called “Ashland Walk and Bike Breakfast.” Free snacks, safety lights and reflective slap bands will be available.

Participants in the challenge can sign up at DriveLessConnect.com and log their green commutes for chances to win more than 100 prizes throughout the event, which runs from Oct. 1-15.

Local prizes include gift certificates to Piccadilly Cycles, Cycle Sport and Dutch Bros Coffee.
