Police and fire reports September 17

Wednesday 4:54 p.m. — Police received a confidential report of a pattern of child neglect in the 2500 block of Eagle Creek Lane. The case has been forwarded to the department of human services for review.

Thursday 1:44 a.m. — A 16-year-old male was reported as a runaway from the Lithia Springs Boys Home in the 200 block of Walker Avenue.

Thursday 1:46 a.m. — Police arrested a 36-year-old man after he was found sleeping on private property in the first block of Water Street. During the arrest, the man provided a false name and date of birth, and he was additionally found to be in possession of unreported stolen property. He was lodged at the Jackson County Jail and charged with giving false information to a police officer, theft and criminal trespassing.

Wednesday 12:21 — Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in the 600 block of Normal Avenue. The first arriving engine found light smoke coming from inside the structure, and all of the residents had evacuated. Investigation found that while a resident was melting butter in a pan, the pan was struck and sprayed butter onto the cook top. The butter ignited and sent flames up into the exhaust hood, which melted and charred the hood. Crews checked for hidden fire and ventilated the structure.

Wednesday 2:11 p.m. — Firefighters responded to an overheated motor in the 200 block of North Pioneer Street.

Wednesday 6:07 p.m. — Rescuers responded to a medical emergency in the 100 block of North Front Street.

Wednesday 9:14 p.m. — Rescuers responded to a medical emergency in the 500 block of Louis J Street.
