The Britt Music and Arts Festival has canceled the remaining Britt Orchestra performances this weekend because of wildfire smoke.
Concerts were slated for tonight and Saturday.
The festival has been moving its Britt Orchestra concerts to the North Medford High School Auditorium when air quality deteriorates, but the music planned for the weekend required extra musicians and instruments that won’t fit on that stage, Britt said in a release today.
Smoke-related rehearsal cancellations means the orchestra hasn’t had time to adequately rehearse the pieces even if the air quality were to improve, Britt said.
Regardless of the reasons for canceling two concerts, Britt will be required to pay all orchestra, guest artist fees and other incurred expenses, the release said. It is asking patrons to consider their tickets a tax-deductible donation rather than requesting refunds.
Those who do wish refunds should contact the Britt Box Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Response could take up to a week. Those who don’t request refunds by Sept. 14 will see their tickets converted into donations.
