After two years, we seek justice

This week will be two years since Dave Lewis was found murdered and his historic, tidy, neatnick home burned to the ground. On the same date, Troy Dean Carney was found shot dead on the Greenway in Central Point. He was not homeless, but a lumper who worked on trucks, camped outside and was passing through Southern Oregon.

The aftermath of the terrible Oak Knoll fires shows the strength, love and determination of the residents of the Rogue Valley. There are few places on earth so beautiful and special.

We are proud of Ashland, Medford and surrounding areas. It is important to keep hope and an eye on the ball in the wake of the destruction of fire.

No human lives were lost in these horrible fires and all who responded were valiant, heroic and showed true character of concern for fellow man. No one died. We only wish David and Troy had been so lucky.

Homes, personal goods and memories can be rebuilt, human life cannot. We seek justice, because David Lewis and Troy Carney, cannot.
