Tim Caswell Jr. is now the executive director of the Southern Oregon High Performance Enterprise Consortium, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping local businesses. Caswell was raised in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 1987 and from Southern Oregon University in 1992 with degrees in business administration and political science. He has since operated his own small business. SOHPEC, founded in 2005, provides classroom training in "lean management" strategies, on-site learning exchanges and Kaizen events in member facilities. The president of Ashland company Dr. Networking and several Rogue Valley volunteers traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for two weeks to donate time and computer parts to a literacy program there. Clif Schieck and other volunteers worked with Great Shape! Inc. to implement a two-week literacy program for Jamaican children. Great Shape was founded in Ashland in 1988.
