Council postpones Lithia Park restaurant proposal

The Ashland City Council will consider at a later date whether to approve construction of a lodge-style restaurant next to Lithia Park after running out of time to discuss the proposal during a Tuesday meeting.

The council could take up the restaurant proposal at its May 3 meeting, although staff members are checking to see whether an earlier date is available to hold a special meeting devoted to the topic.

The proposal for a 189-seat restaurant at 85 Winburn Way, next to the seasonal Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink, was scheduled to be heard early during Tuesday's meeting, but Mayor John Stromberg pushed the issue back so that councilors could hear from two dozen people who came to speak on the issue of homelessness.
