Former Daily Tidings publisher named to head new Gannett print company

Former Daily Tidings publisher Bob Dickey has been named chief executive officer for the new Gannett Co.
Gannett, publisher of USA TODAY, announced this week it is separating its  publishing division from its broadcast properties. Dickey will lead USA Today, 81 local U.S. daily publications as well as Newsquest, a leading regional community news provider in the U.K.
Dickey attended Southern Oregon University. He joined the Daily Tiding advertising staff in the early 1980s and later moved into management.
He began his career with Gannett 22 years ago as retail advertising manager in Reno. In July of 1993, he was named President and Publisher of The Desert Sun newspaper in Palm Springs.
In 1997, Dickey became vice president for Gannett's Pacific Region and later named senior group president and chairman/CEO of The Arizona Republic in September 2005.
