Letters to the Editor

Socialist Party A or Socialist Party B?

Lately many letters to The Tidings have trashed the Republican Party. Fine. I'm sure much of it is warranted.

Yet what about the Democratic Party? Also, why do so many people blindly and stubbornly "suck up" to either Socialist Party A (Democrats) versus Socialist Party B (Republicans)? This is the definition of insanity!

Both major parties are to blame for the current fiscal, economic, moral and political shambles our nation is in today. Of course I ardently endorse a third party: the Constitution Party of Oregon (www. constitutionpartyoregon.net). It's obvious I have no respect for either the Donkeys (Jackasses) or the Dumbos (the Republicans).

Finally, the Sept. 5 edition of The New American ran an article by Bob Adelmann titled, "Democrats Receive 89 Percent of Donations by Four Top Donors." Visit www.thenewamerican.com and search for this article.

It's obvious here the Democrats, with their campaign war chest, like the Republicans they love to accuse of catering to the rich and powerful, are no better! This reminds me of Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall.

Don't let fear destroy our values

Thank you to Chris Honoré and E.J. Dionne Jr. for their honest columns (Sept. 8).

In this mess of an economy, only the federal government has the means, the power and the ability to get the economy moving again. The private sector just cannot do it alone. The New Deal and the Marshall Plan did work, and then the private sector was able to take over.

Regarding 9/11, we do need to look ahead, be vigilant to any dangers but not live in constant fear. We know our core values. We must not let fear destroy them.
