The Rogue Valley's Hike of the Week

National Creek Falls No. 1053

How to Get There:

From Medford, drive east on Crater Lake Highway (Highway 62) toward Crater Lake. Just north of the Union Creek Resort, interstate highways 62 and 230 intersect. Follow mileposts on 230 to mile marker No. 6 at the junction with Forest Road 6530.

Turn right onto Road 6530 and travel 4 miles to the junction with Road 6530/300. Turn right onto Road 300 and follow the road carefully to the National Creek parking lot and trail head.

Brief Info:

This is a short but moderate hike. The total distance is only 0.4 miles, but the scenery is beautiful. The trail begins at an elevation of 4,000 feet at Forest Road 6530/300 and ends at National Creek Falls at an elevation of 3,760 feet.

The falls are fed by springs in the Crater Lake National Park and empty into a secluded pool &

perfect for an afternoon getaway.

The hardest part about this hike is finding the trail itself. There are very few maps online, but there are signs on the main roads leading to the trails.

Maps that will be useful are the Prospect Ranger District Rogue River National Forest Map and the United States Forest Service Opportunity Guide, National Creek Falls.
