Thinking for oneself

The herd instinct in human beings is the root source of all morality. It is what provides for the nurturing influence of family life and has produced the panoramic growth of civilization. However, it is also the source of the most egregious acts of cowardice, hypocrisy, blood lust and idiocy, throughout history.

Over the last eight years there has been a burgeoning of people providing fair and critical analyses of the events of 9/11. This has resulted in groups such as Patriots Question 9/11, Firefighters for 9/11 Truth, Lawyers for 9/11 Truth, Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, the Scientific Panel Investigating Nine Eleven (SPINE), etc., — and most recently the Japanese-initiated (international) Political Leaders for 9/11 Truth, which has petitioned our president to reopen the 9/11 investigation.

Almost exactly concomitant with this accelerating growth has been a growth in surveillance and censorship of this very information from the mainstream media. Only five corporations control about 95 percent of the mainstream media, and censorship is now strictly top-down with respect to this issue. As a consequence, people have been conditioned as to what not to think about. The general public has been left with the impression of the official government propaganda, and that this is supported by all "expert" opinion.

The alternative is indeed mind-boggling.

The story of an "Arab terrorist" attack on 9/11 was necessary to garner public support for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, whose sole purpose was to steal the oil resources of the Middle East and Central Asia, and to dramatically increase the worldwide presence of the U.S. military. This was actually announced with amazing hubris when our government initially named the latter war Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL).

It is actually not very difficult to unravel all the government lies about 9/11, starting with the basic physics. Many competent, qualified people have contributed to this denouement. But it requires a strong stomach, as the moral imbecility is truly astonishing. It is also simplicity itself to assign the major responsibilities: These belong to Richard Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, and secondarily to their minions George Bush, Condoleeza Rice and Larry Silverstein. Key roles also had to have been played by high-ranking people in the military and intelligence communities. Unfortunately, those identifications have not yet been made and become more difficult to ferret out with every passing day. That is a very dangerous situation.

It is the resistance to facing these realities which has made the great mass of Americans complicit in the fairy tale which has been peddled by our government. Partly, it is due to an inherent character deficiency in most Americans: At present, this is the most superficial, materialistic, status-obsessed society since the Kwakiutl cannibals of the Pacific Northwest.

Within bounds of decency, people are welcome to whatever values they please. But the reality is that in order to excise a malignancy, there is no other recourse than to first recognize that it exists. Faith healing will not work. Guaranteed.
