Oregon Gulch Fire is 82 percent contained

The Oregon Gulch Fire has reached 82 percent containment, the Oregon Department of Forestry reported.

Crews continue moving into the interior. They have mopped up 400 inside the fire lines and have a goal of reaching the 500-foot mark today. The fire was sparked by lightning July 30 and burned up more than 35,000 acres in Jackson and Klamath counties and in Northern California.

During Monday's thunderstorms, some crew members assisting with mop-up flocked to other lightning-sparked blazes in the surrounding area for containment. A half-inch of rain fell over parts of the Oregon Gulch Fire.

On Monday afternoon, all evacuation advisories on the fire were lifted.
