Talent city councilman steps down

Talent City Councilman Bob Wilson submitted his resignation Wednesday, citing health reasons.

Wilson has served on the council for eight years and his term expires at the end of December.

"My doctor said I should resign from any of the boards I'm on," said Wilson, who said he will also leave the Talent Urban Renewal Agency board and other city committees and commissions.

Wilson said he's particularly proud of the development of the city's commons area, which includes the new City Hall, the new Library, the community center and the historical society building. He chaired the City Hall Committee.

"You get to work with a group of people that you enjoy working with," Wilson said. "They are all professionals. I really enjoyed the whole journey. I'm sad to leave both urban renewal and the City Council."

Wilson was appointed to the council in June 2002 and elected to a full term in November 2002 and again in 2006. City Manager Jay Henry said the council will decide how to seek his replacement.
