The Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission is holding a contest to choose the logo for Siskiyou de Mayo: A World Music Festival, an event set for May 14 in Lithia Park that the commission hopes will become an annual tradition.
The artist whose logo is selected will win free passes to Ashland's seasonal pool and ice rink, free T-shirts featuring the winning design and "the pride of seeing your work in multiple mediums."
The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, and the winning artist will be notified by Feb. 15.
According to the city's press release, the festival will "celebrate multiculturalism with international music and dance," and the line-up will feature, among others, Salsa Brava with Jennifer Berry's Rueda Dancer, Dawn KC: Middle Eastern Belly Dance, Tom Berich: Caribbean Steel Pan Band and Tony Stern's Cuban Rumba Troupe, and will be MC'd by local storyteller and poet T. Poe.
