Viola Marguerite Warriner went home to be with her Lord on the evening of February 9, 2012, in her home.
Vi was born November 2, 1913, to Charles and Myrtle Gray, in Rushville, Neb. At an early age, Vi moved to Montana and Wyoming before her family settled in Medford, Ore., in 1929. She worked for a family in Gold Hill, Ore., for a number of years, until she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" E. Warriner. Bob and Vi were married June 8, 1945, and were married for 40 years, until Bob's passing on December 31, 1985. They had no children. After their retirement they traveled the U.S. extensively. Vi always loved an adventure. She and Bob enjoyed bowling together, and Vi continued to bowl until just a few years ago and had many awards to show for it.
In May 1989, Vi moved into Holiday Gardens, Talent, Ore., and at the time of her passing was the last original tenant in the community. Not only did Vi have a quiet and loving spirit, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing bingo and cards, lending a helping hand, tending her African Violets, and having lunch at the Medford Senior Center with her many friends.
Vi is survived by her sister, Ruby Reed, of Portland, Ore.; many nieces and nephews; and her very good friends, including Nancy Michaels and Theresa Drake, who were by her side when she passed.
A memorial service, along with a celebration of life luncheon, will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012, 11:30 a.m., at Holiday Gardens Talent Club House, 220 Holiday Ln., Talent, OR 97540.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ashland Hospice, 1970 Ashland St., Ashland, Ore.
