Virginia 'Ginny' Walter

Virginia Walter of Phoenix, Ore., passed away peacfully June 5, 2012, at Heathstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 93. At the time of Ginny's passing, she was surrounded by her husband of 62 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ginny was born in Chicago, Ill., October 11, 1918, and had four sisters and one brother. Ginny loved to sew and was an avid seamstress and hat maker. Ginny also loved to bowl and met her ever-loving husband, Richard D. Walter, in a bowling alley in Jacksonville, Fla.

They fell in love and married three months later on December 30, 1950, and started a family. Ginny and Richard had two daughters, Vicki and Laurie, and one son, Alan. In 1966, Ginny and Richard moved their family to Ashland, Ore., where they lived from 1966 to 1989. From 1989 to present, they lived in Phoenix, Ore.

Throughout her life, Ginny worked as a bookkeeper for several companies and retired from the Medford Elks Lodge in 1982.

Ginny is survived by her sister, Nyla, age 85; her husband, Richard, age 81; her children, Dan and Vicki Danuser, of Gresham, Ore.; Barry and Laurie Orlando, of Vancouver, Wash.; and Alan and Brenda Walter, of Central Point, Ore.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private family cermony was held at Eagle Point National Cementery Thursday, June 21, 2012. A public celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday July 7, 2012, at Rogue Valley South in Phoenix, Ore. Friends are invited to attend.
