‘Living While Dying’ screens Wednesday in Ashland

“Living While Dying,” a life-affirming film on how to face the fear of death by living life to the fullest, will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland.
Following the screening of the 45-minute documentary film, the audience will be invited to join a discussion aimed at changing how we perceive death and dying. The filmmaker, along with end-of-life experts, will offer open-ended questions, inviting the audiences to address a topic once deemed taboo.
Filmmaker Cathy Zheutlin works to counter the typical world view that death is something to vanquish with an alternative: people living with terminal illness who greet the inevitable with courage, humor, creativity and acceptance.
Zheutlin’s mother, Jonnie Szold Zheutlin, now 91, a resident of Ashland for 25 years, is featured in the film, and will be in attendance for the Q&A discussion. Additionally, two of the four main characters in the film were beloved Ashland residents: Clair Killen and Alan Rosey Rosenberg.
