Lily Annen scored twice and Raisa Rich had a goal and an assist as Ashland rolled to its fourth straight win, 3-0, over Springfield Friday at Walter A. Phillips Field.
Annen got the Grizzlies (7-1-1, 3-0 Midwestern League) on the board in the 21st when she controlled Ginny Cotton’s long free kick in the box and turned it into a one-versus-one against the keeper, which she won.
In the 35th, Rich was on the receiving end of a through ball from Nicole Mullen and connected from point-blank range to make it 2-0.
Annen connected again in the 70th, taking a nice pass from Rich before dribbling to the edge of the penalty box and kicking the ball just inside the near post.
Springfield fell to 1-9 overall, 1-3 in the MWL.
Ben Lucero scored twice and Ashland led 4-0 at the half en route to a 5-0 Midwestern League victory over Springfield, Friday at Springfield High School.
Lucero scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute off an assist by Ian Rinefort, and the final goal in the 48th off an assist by Jahnoi Hall.
Rinefort also assisted Jade Boucher, who scored the Grizzlies’ second goal in the 22nd.
Also scoring for Ashland (7-1-2, 3-0 MWL) were Kip Parowski and Kai Cheval, and goalkeepers Zander Huston and Ian Shibley teamed up for Ashland’s third shutout of the season.
“Springfield last year knocked us out when we overlooked them, and this year we talked about it and decided that wasn’t going to happen,” Ashland co-head coach Brad Roupp said.
Springfield fell to 4-6-1 overall, 1-3 in the MWL.
Ashland hosts Eagle Point on Tuesday.
