Body found in Bear Creek identified

A man found dead Sunday in Bear Creek has been identified as Bradley Lewis Spurgeon, 49, who had been staying at a nearby transient camp last week when he disappeared, according to Medford police.

Medical examiners are still working to determine how Spurgeon died, but Medford police detectives don’t suspect foul play.

Spurgeon’s body was found about 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Bear Creek just south of Barnett Road.

A woman who described herself as Spurgeon’s girlfriend told detectives that Spurgeon had been missing since July 23, when he left a transient camp roughly 200 yards upstream from where his body was found.
