Highlanders spoil Ashland's senior night

Kelly O’Malley scored 16 points and Hannah Tyler 15, leading North Eugene past shorthanded Ashland 48-22 Friday in Midwestern League girls basketball action at Mountain Avenue Gym.

The visiting Challengers (10-11, 7-5 MWL) rolled to a 25-12 halftime lead and cruised from there to spoil the Grizzlies’ senior night.

Ashland (5-15, 2-10) was led by Alie Voskes, who scored six points. Clancy Barry added seven rebounds and Nina Munson four steals and three assists.

Injuries, sickness and absences left the Grizzlies short four key players.

Ashland wraps up its schedule next week with a pair of road games at Crater and Marist.
