A proposed community-led Climate and Energy Action Plan for the city of Ashland will be described at a community event for volunteers at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Ashland United Church of Christ, 717 Siskiyou Blvd.
The event is sponsored by Rogue Climate, a youth-led organization advocating clean energy and sustainable jobs. Rogue Climate volunteers will work with community members, businesses, and organizations to assist the City of Ashland in creating a plan to reduce climate pollution, transition to clean energy sources and adapt to the changing climate.
The event will begin with burritos and music followed at 6:30 p.m. by a presentation on the proposal from members of the Ashland Conservation Commission. News from cities taking similar steps will be shared with a discussion on how volunteers can help shape Ashland’s clean energy future.
