A gathering marking installation of “Threshold” on Gateway Island on Siskiyou Boulevard between the Ashland Public Library and Ashland Fire & Rescue Station No. 1 is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday.

‘Threshold’ event planned Wednesday

The city of Ashland Public Arts Commission is inviting the public to an event at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, to welcome “Threshold,” the city’s newest public art sculpture, by Susan Zoccola, into the city’s public art collection.

The event will be held at the Gateway Island between the library and Fire Station No. 1 on Siskiyou Boulevard.

The Gateway Island site was identified by the city more than a decade ago as a site for a large-scale sculpture. Funding comes from a small portion of the lodging tax allocated for tourism-related projects.

The site also includes new landscaping designed by Tracy Peddicord and installed by the Ashland Parks Department.
